Charles Creek Vineyard

A Passionate Pursuit in Sonoma's Valley of the Moon

What would you say are some of the important things to know if I want to learn about wine? I want to visit your tasting room and would like to be prepared to get the most out of my (and my girlfriend's) experience. To be honest I'm not a wine expert and I would like to both learn and have a little insight into what to expect at a tasting room or winery.

The only preparations needed for a visit to the Tasting Room of Charles Creek Vineyard are: be prepared to enjoy flavorful, delicious wines and be prepared to have your questions answered and, perhaps, your preconceptions shattered.
Bring your open mind and your curious pallete and we'll guide you through an enjoyable and, yes, educational (but in a good way) tasting experience.
It's not uncommon for a guest to have notions as to what they will or won't like that are honestly arrived at (e.g. "I tried some Chardonnays that I didn't like; ergo I don't like Chardonnay") but often very limiting. Basic fact #1, when it comes to wine, is that no two wines are entirely alike and within any category (white, red, pink, Cabernet, Chardonnay Merlot, etc.) there will be wines that you will like, wines that you dislike and wines that you are indifferent to...
We like to help open up the "newbie's" vistas to the possibility that no category should be off the table (so to speak) and that tasting broadly and deeply from all categories will provide some truly memorable (mostly in a good way) experiences.
You don't need any special "lingo"; just taste and let your mind provide descriptors: does it remind you of flavors of fruit? Spice? Something deep in memory (the aromas of Grandma's cedar chest)? No two individuals will arrive at the same description...
We'll hope to see you newbies soon...
The best thing about the Charles Creek Tasting Room is the "zero attitude" approach. You can feel comfortable asking ANY questions. The best tasting rooms want to educate you and make you feel comfortable, and that is exactly what you get here!
